A favourite restaurant and hangout amongst the local high-society crowd, Izakaya is a fusion of Japanese precision with a Peruvian flair. Nestled on the top of a plateau in one of Egypts most expensive neighborhoods on the western outskirts of Cairo, Izakaya can easily be a 45-60 min drive from downtown Cairo. If you're curious about seeing how the upper society hangs out, don't mind spending a pretty penny, and want to have some world-class food while you're doing it, this is the place to go.

One of Cairo's long established restaurants dating back to the early 80's, Andrea is famous for their spit-roasted chicken and variety of mezzes. Recently, Andrea has moved out to a new hilltop spot in New Giza, making this a great spot for lunch or dinner after a trip to the Pyramids. Locals usually like coming here for brunch during the weekends where you can eat in the garden while overlooking the city of Giza. Andrea has vast outdoor space and an indoor area too.

Newly opened in 2020, the 9 Pyramids Lounge is the only restaurant to actually be on the Giza plateau with unobstructed views of all three pyramids. Needless to say, the view is out of this world!  The best thing about the 9 Pyramids Lounge is, there is no building. Instead, it's built in a subtle wooden setting with indoor and outdoor spaces for dining with a relaxing outdoor majlis seating with pillows scattered on the ground to emulate the Bedouin style.  They serve Mediterranean grill & Egyptian food as well as international cuisine with hefty portion sizes. Overall the food is average but the view is hard to beat and worth a visit.  

Eish & Malh has become an established fixture of the culinary world in downtown Cairo, offering new Italian cuisine using fresh local ingredients. Located right beside the old Egyptian Synagogue (a true architectural gem), this eatery is active within the local food and cultural scene. They specialize in thin-crust pizza, house-made pasta, meats, fish, big "empire" brunches, and artisanal hand-made ice creams. Since opening, Eish + Malh’s involvement in the social and cultural scene in downtown has manifested in varied ways. They frequently host supper clubs, live music nights and art events.

This fast food chain is famous for two things and two things only - it's main location in the famous Tahrir Square and it's Koshary, a local vegan meal and a staple to the Egyptian diet. Macaroni, rice, lentils, fried onions - all mixed together, topped with their da’a (lemon, vinegar and garlic dressing) and salsa make this quite a hearty meal for under 50 cents. As with all good koshary joints, the restaurant caters as quickly to those wanting to take-out as they do to those wanting to dine in.

Welcoming and charming atmosphere and the staff are famously friendly. Generally attracts a nice crowd for its food, drinks and music served throughout the day.

Crimson is a Roof-Top bar and grill that is influenced by the red shades we get to witness during the magical hour of sunset in Zamalek by the Nile front.
